Piranesi on Paper, A study of the work of Italian artist, print maker and trader Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-1778) at Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen. The exhibition studies and presents the rarely seen prints and books of Piranesi, alongside extensive research carried out by Mireille Linck into the watermarks and heritage of the 751 Piranesi works in the collection of the Boijmans Van Beuningen. The design plays with magnification to highlight and study the textures and hidden details found in Piranesi’s Oeuvre. Blow ups, magnifying lenses, light boxes, and projections invite the visitor to get closer to the work. The display materials produced for this exhibition were the first phase of a long-term collaboration between the Depot and the studio.
